Introducing our latest project with Canadian Arctic and polar adventurer Richard Weber and his wife Josee Auclair…

Richard Weber is the only person in history to have made six successful treks to the North Pole. Yes, you read that correctly. A lone Canadian [and Russian] made the daring roundtrip to the North Pole without being aided by support teams or aircrafts. If you can imagine, he’s seen and been through some pretty astounding stuff. Read his book and find out for yourself.

Josee has been through her share of adventure as well.  She is the first Canadian woman to guide expeditions to both the North and South Poles. She and Richard have over 20 years of experience and more than 45 Arctic expeditions under their belt. Their sons, Tessum and Nansen, both help in the family business. Tessum is a former ski-racer and the youngest person to have trekked to the North Pole, and Nansen is a nationally-ranked competitive cross-country skier.

Expeditions aside, Richard and Josee own the family-operated Arctic Watch Wilderness Lodge, Canada’s most northerly lodge located on on Somerset Island in Nunavut. Long gone are the days where traveling to the Arctic meant sleeping in a tent on the tundra without electricity or water. Arctic Watch is a Nunavut 5-star hotel that boasts private guest cabins, electricity, hot water and gourmet food that is exquisitely executed by Josee herself. Arctic Watch is world-renowned for whale-watching, as thousands of beluga whales congregate in the mouth of the Cunningham Inlet each year.

Back in July, I wrote this post when bv02’s Andrew Milne and Matt Davidson travelled to Arctic Watch. Well, there they were forging relationships and getting lots of footage for the new Arctic Watch site as well as the website for Richard’s personal brand, Richard Weber. We are honoured to be working with such accomplished, yet humble and down-to-earth individuals – not to mention pleased that it is both a family owned and operated and environmentally conscious business.

Arctic Watch truly is a life-changing experience for individuals of any age, adventurous or not. Join their Facebook page, follow Richard on Twitter, or view their stunning photos on Flickr.
